Tungsten has the highest melting point of all metals. At temperatures above 1650° C  , tungsten also has the highest tensile strength of all metals. Tungsten has a very low coefficient of thermal expansion, low vapor pressure at high temperatures, high dimensional stability, good creep properties, and extremely high elastic modulus. Therefore, tungsten wire has the characteristics of high melting point, high density, and good electrical conductivity, suitable for high-temperature furnace heating elements and manufacturing tungsten electrodes.

Tungsten-rhenium alloy wire has a higher resistivity than pure tungsten and is the preferred material in high temperature environments, such as jet engine components.

1. Lighting industry: Tungsten wire is used as a filament in incandescent bulbs. Since tungsten has a high melting point, it can emit light at high temperatures without melting.
2.  Electronics industry: In vacuum tubes and electron tubes, tungsten wire is used as a cathode and heating element because it can withstand high temperatures and maintain stable electrical properties.
3. Arc welding: used to make tungsten electrodes, which are used in argon arc welding because they can withstand high temperatures and provide a stable arc.
4. High temperature equipment: Tungsten wire is widely used as a heating element in high-temperature furnaces, ovens, and heat treatment equipment. Due to the high melting point of tungsten, it can remain stable at extreme temperatures.
